2008 - 2009 State Pin
Did
you know? Connecticut has a long history of being a leader in the
manufacturing of clocks and timepieces dating back to 1738.
Heman Clark, in Salem Bridge Connecticut, manufactured clocks for
100 years from 1738 to 1838. Clocks were made in, Ansonia, Bristol,
Bridgeport, Northbury, Plymouth Hollow, New Haven, Winsted and
Waterbury.
You might recognize some of the names, Seth Thomas, Sessions,
Ingraham, Eli Terry, Standard Time and Waterbury Clock Co. to name a
few. Some are still in business today.
This pin design was chosen to pay a small tribute to the rich
heritage of clock making in Connecticut. It also incorporates
the "Hour of Eleven" to remember "those who shall come no more",
along with the Emblem of our Order.
Going to the National Convention? Pins are a great way to meet and
greet fellow members from all over the country. Pin traders
abound at the convention, try swapping pins with other Elks, or just
give them out to new friends you are sure to make. How about placing
some in your Elks jewelry case for your members to purchase?
Maybe even give them out to youngsters at a Youth Activities event,
kids love pins. How about presenting one to each of your new members
at their Initiation ceremony? I'm sure you will find many more
ways to put these pins to good use.
The cost of this year's pin is $1.25 each. Orders must be received
by March 1,2008 to insure they will be available for delivery at the
State Convention. Payment must accompany your order.
Submit completed order form along with your payment. Payable
to: Dennis DiMauro, 106 Longview Ave., Bristol, CT 06010-7124.
Please print or type your form. Thank you in advance for your
order.
