The award has been established to recognize and honor law

field of drug prevention. This award is given to one individual in
Connecticut each year. It is to remember a young Drug Enforcement

very often placed him in personal danger. Working in cooperation
with State Police, FBI and DEA Task Forces. the group seized
hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of narcotics, paraphernalia
and firearms resulting in the arrest and jailing of many high level
drug dealers.
He has been recognized with unit citations and awards, including the

Bridgeport Lodge Begins Impact Grant Project
On Sunday December 23rd the Bridgeport Lodge #36 served
it's first dinner for their "Serving those who Served" project.
Bridgeport Lodge #36 was awarded an Impact Grant of $9600 from the
Elks National Foundation to help them feed the homeless Veterans in
their Community. On December 23rd the Lodge prepared and
served dinners to 43 homeless Veterans
and also gave the Veterans gift bags containing toiletries and other
basic necessities for living.
The pictures in this article are from the day at the
"Homes for the Brave" facility. As you can see the members of
Bridgeport Lodge #36 and the Veterans had a fantastic time at the
dinner. "We were received with open arms and many 'Thank
You's' said Matthew Frankel, Impact Grant Program Manager.
He continued "though I must admit it seemed odd that these brave
Americans were thanking me, it did not feel right, it is us who
should be thanking them."
Bridgeport Lodge #36 is planning on brining dinner to the
"Homes for the Brave" facility once a month as well as bringing them
care packages and other items that they may need. In this first
endeavor they received donations of close to $500 in goods and cash
to support their efforts. It just goes to show that Elks Care,
Elks Share.
