2006 Connecticut Elks Drug
Awareness Poster and Essay Contest Winners
The 2006
top poster winner, Sean M,. representing Rockville Lodge, with
his poster. This poster was submitted to the Grand
Lodge for consideration in the next Grand Lodge Drug Awareness
coloring book.

The first place Drug Awareness essay winner
is Kevin M. representing Enfield Elks #2222. On May 15,
2006, the Lodge hosted its annual Youth Activities / Drug
Awareness Awards Banquet and hosted in excess of 300 children,
parents and teachers where Kevin received his award.
Below: Mike Ferguson, PER, Lodge Secretary; Kevin
Mitchell, 6th Grade, St. Bernard School; and Kevin Ferguson,
PER, Central District and Lodge #2222 Drug Awareness Chairman.

Earlier in the program Buddy Patrizzi, CT Elks State Vice
President and Debbie Angell, State Drug Awareness Chairman
presented Kevin with a first place award, including a $300
Savings Bond, for his first place essay in the state drug
awareness essay contest. Following this presentation, Mike
Ferguson and his son Kevin Ferguson presented Kevin Mitchell
with the first annual Drug Awareness Memorial Award in honor of
Mrs. Ferguson, who unexpectedly passed away last year. She
conducted the lodge’s drug awareness program for numerous years.
Kevin received another $200 savings bond.

2006 Drug Awareness Annual Report Presented at the 2006 State
Convention

Debbie Angell, CT Elks State Drug Awareness chairman
was invited, along with 6 fellow state drug awareness chairman to
represent the Elks at the annual Youth Leadership convention in
Washington, DC. She and Past State President Tim Angell, PDD
escorted several youth the meet their elected officials at our state
capital. Debbie has been asked to present her PRIDE “Mission
Possible” trip experience during the Saturday session of the Sat/
Sun official state drug awareness chairman conference held at the
Convention Center in Orlando..

National Foundation for possible use in their annual Youth Highlight
