The goal for the Ritual Committee this year is to help the
Lodge Officers develop a better understanding of the importance
the Ritual makes on the impression of the new member. This
is the Lodges second chance to grasp the attention of the new
member, and hopefully want to make them get involved in their
Lodge.
As a committee we will make ourselves available to any
Lodge of individual Lodge Officer who would like our help.
We know that most really do not think that either doing the
Ritual from memory, or reading it (and reading what is on the
page) makes a difference, but it does. So again please
call us for any help that we can offer. We are here to
serve you, please use us.

| The whole purpose of the exemplification of the
ritual is to impress the candidate with the lesson it teaches. The
ceremony should be presented at all times from this standpoint.
There is no activity throughout Elkdom that more consistently and
continually furthers the fundamental principles of our Order than
that of a dignified and impressive rendition of the ritual.
The first impressions are usually the most lasting and the
opportunity for the Lodge officers to impress the candidate with the
principles of our Order is on the night that he/she is initiated. It
must be remembered that the first knowledge of the aims and
principles of Elkdom is experienced when a candidate is being
inducted as an Elk. Therefore, one of the most important
contributions the officers of all Lodges can make is an impressive
induction of a candidate into our great Order.

Area 1 Roulette Contest
By Pete Nelson PER, CEA Ritual
Chairman
|
On Sunday the 19th of September 2010 the Area 1 Interstate Relations
Committee will be holding the Roulette contest in Nashua, NH.
The four main chairs are drawn for just before the Lodge enters the contest
room. The Inner Guard, Esquire, and Chaplin are already assigned before the
contest. Anyone interested in participating should please let me know
ASAP, so that a practice schedule and location can be arranged.
As I receive more information about lodging for the weekend I will pass it
along. The festivities and camaraderie at these events are second to none.
So if you would like to give it a shot step forward and have a good time
while you make new friends across the New England States. Our team from
Connecticut will go on at 2pm.

State Ritual Contest Results
By Pete Nelson PER, CEA Ritual
Chairman
|
The State Ritual contest
was held on Sunday March 14th at Willimantic Lodge #1311,and we had
three teams participate ( All from the East ). Danielson,
Manchester, and Groton. It was a great contest with close scores all
around. I am proud to say that whether you came in first or third
each Lodge that competed was truly a winner. In the twenty-five plus
years that I have been involved in Ritual, this was the first time I
can remember Groton Lodge ever competing and they did an outstanding
job too I might add. To Groton Lodge#2163 congratulations and I look
forward to seeing you back again next year, I am just a phone call
away for assistance to you.
To Danielson and Manchester, that was one of the closest battles
that has ever occurred between the two Lodges, and you two have done
battle before when it comes to Ritual. The scores were close, with
Manchester scoring a 95.0614, and Danielson scoring a 95.5711 for
first place once again. These two scores are scores that are good
enough to win at the Grand Lodge level of competition.
Congratulations to Danielson who will again represent Connecticut at
the Grand Lodge Contest in Orlando this year. For those of you
traveling to Orlando, Connecticut is scheduled to go on at 4 o'clock
on Saturday July 3rd, show them your support and cheer them on.
I would also like to thank the following people who made the days
contest run so smoothly: As acting Chairman, Peter Freiler PDD;
Judges: Rhode Island and Massachusetts; Computer room: Bill Chinn
PDD SVP, Dennis DiMauro PSP, Terry Scott PER from Middleboro, MA;
