DIRECTIONS TO OUR LODGE:
At the Groton CT, Elks #2163 our Annual salute to our Armed Forces and Veterans Nov. 8, 2013, we honored our Korean War Veterans. There were over 220 that attended. Invited were 70 Sailors from the Groton Submarine Base, National Guard, Wounded Warriors Vets from Walter Reed Hospital, and Veterans from all the Armed Forces. The Silver Dolphins Drill Team preformed. There was also a Patriotic themed performance by the Mystic Highland Bag Pipers band. George Strutt PDD and Chairman of the event presented a Certificate of Appreciation from the Elks National Veterans Service Commission.
The Connecticut Elks Association presented a $1,500 grant from Community Charities to the Groton Elks #2163 sponsored Fife and Drum Corp. Groton, CT Lodge presented a 55 inch LCD television with a four year warranty to the State Veterans Home located in Rocky Hill, Connecticut. It is to be used in one of the Residential Day rooms for Veterans who are in Residence. It is a way for our Lodge to share in the Residential facilities mission to “Serve those who have served.”
